On February 18th 2010, when I was due to spend the day stumbling like a zombie around the stands and seminars of the Broadcast Video Expo at Earl’s Court in London, I was called up by some old friends at The Progress Film Company.
The Directors, Gary Osborne and Ben Lankester, had been comissioned by Club AC30 to shoot a music video promo for indie band Exit Calm’s new release “Hearts and Minds”.I got a call from Gary 48 hours before they were due to shoot the band’s performance in Barnsley. They were desperate for someone to step in and help them light the band. Not only was this a great opportunity to meet up with some old friends but it was a great excuse to avoid the drones at BVE and do a proper days work.
The promo was being shot on RED ONE at 4K and the lighting requirements called for subtle and moody. With this brief, Gary and Ben entrusted me to do as I saw fit to create exactly that atmosphere.
You can see the results in the video link above and the official release details can be found at the promonews.tv website, where I am honoured to have received a mention and credit.
It’s great to get these kind of last minute calls, especially when it’s from someone who trusts that you will do your absolute best, even at short notice.
“He nailed it. He also nailed the lighting. All hail Peter!” Gary Osborne, Director @ Progress Film Company
